New Builds

Greenhill Joinery built this random limestone house from scratch using traditional materials. King post roof trusses are a wonderful feature in the upper storey, the rafters and perlins are visable internally. Old quoins, cills and roof tiles were sourced from reclamation yards locally and hand dressed by us. The random limestone used to build the house was very local indeed using limestone that was dug out when digging the footings, this all needed to be hand dressed also. There was a huge amount of limestone dug out in preparation for the construction of the new concrete slab, with over 30 tonnes of steel and over 240 cubic metres of concrete, the slab was quite substantial as the house was built on an elevated site and on a cliff edge. This house was built by Chris at Greenhill Joinery for our family home around twenty five years ago.

Barn Conversions

This is our current project. With planning permission to turn this old historic barn into a new dwelling, this building project needed to be a sympathetic restoration and conversion. The building needed some extensive repairs to the shell of the building including a new roof, we managed to save some of the original old barn trusses and timbers but needed to replicate and renew part of the old barn roof and make matching roof trusses in oak to restore the original roof back to its former glory.
